  • Whilst the intention is to deliver what is outlined in the program, the program is subject to change, change will be equal or better value.
  • Cost is inclusive of coach travel Monday to Friday.
  • As location of Conference dinner venue has changed our intention is to include pick up from accommodation and drop as an inclusion where possible.
  • If you choose to use your own vehicle the daily cost still is the same.
  • You can choose to take part every day, one day or on selected days.

Celebrating 30 Years, a new venue, new format and many new iris on display. If you are attending the convention and have included this day you are in for a treat. A great day to enjoy the floral exhibits, catch up with old friends and acquaint yourself with new friends. Entry, Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea and Welcome dinner is included as part of Show Day and Welcome dinner Convention package. (drinks at dinner are at you own cost)

Iris Sales Area

Don’t miss out! Great selection of potted iris, and bare rooted rhizomes. Riversdale Irises Special Iris blend Fertilizer, many sought after iris varieties and iris species will be on offer. All proceeds go to the Inland Region Iris Society

Iris Society of Australia AGM

At 4pm the delegates will attend the Annual General Meeting.

6pm Welcome Dinner with Welcome to Country, Show Awards and Convention overview.

As a sign of respect, a Welcome to Country will be performed by a local indigenous elder. Only Traditional Owners/Custodians of the land on which the event takes place can deliver a Welcome to Country. The Venue is fully licensed, and drinks are at your cost. Dinner will be bistro style and you will preorder your dinner and dessert choice. All dietary requirements will be catered for but must be stipulated at the time of your booking.

DAY 1 - Wagga Wagga Convention

Monday 21 October 2024. Wagga Wagga

Early start with departure from Wodonga accommodation at 7am and Albury at 7.30am travelling to Wagga Wagga. The day will include a visit to Riverina Iris Farm where Annette Tenbroeke will give an overview of her iris operation. Annette is a grower and seller of iris. The day will include a visit to Old N’ Dazed which specializes in Australian made Metal Art and Garden Art. If you are interested, you can preorder and collect it on the day.

A visit to this area would not be complete without including Junee Licorice & Chocolate where we will be given a presentation and have a lovely lunch inclusive of a cup of tea/coffee or soft drink. (Alcoholic beverages are available at your own expense). A great product range to tempt you! We will also be treated to a guided tour of the Victory Memorial Gardens and National Art and Glass Gallery.

We thought you would like to organize your own dinner and explore the dining options in Albury or Wodonga. Or have something light and have an early night.

DAY 2 - Yackandandah & Beechworth

Yackandandah & Beechworth

Yackandandah is a lovely little town where we find Shiralee Fish and her wonderful property where she lives with her husband Warren. As a qualified horticulturist and a self-confessed plant nut, you will be surprised and delighted at her plant collection. She has an extensive range of standard dwarf iris, MTB, IB, and the most impressive range of new pacific coast iris PCIs in Australia. You will have the first look at what Shiralee is registering.

Out of Town Nursery and Humming Garden nestled on 4 acres in a lovely location it is a garden comprising of many rooms, each with its own character and style. A garden for all seasons. You will be sure to want to take some plants home with you!

Beechworth is a town filled with history, iconic businesses and beautiful gardens. The aim is to experience as much as we can in an afternoon.

This day includes morning & afternoon tea, lunch, all entry fees and dinner. We also have a guest speaker.

DAY 3 - Albury Wodonga

Wednesday October 23, 2024 Albury Wodonga

A guided tour of the Albury Botanic Garden, which includes an iris bed with iris supplied by Riversdale Irises.

A visit to Des and Gwen Klinberg’s garden, which was also a part of the last Inland Region Iris Society hosted National Convention in 2017. So many changes but still so many points of interest. Iris, roses, perennials, natives, garden art and a “pot garden” a must see!

A photo opportunity at Ettomogah Pub just to prove you were there! A Visit out to Hume weir so you can appreciate the size of the water catchment.

Riversdale Irises -Tim and Maria Rosa Taylor’s property a garden that was included in the last Iris Society of Australia’s National Iris Convention hosted by the Inland Region in 2017. Experience the transition from then to now. Tim and Maria are both horticulturally trained and are accredited to send iris Australia wide. Every available place is planted with iris. After sustaining almost a total loss in 2019 including thousands of seedlings, Tim has been able to regenerate the health of the soil, and with the support of wonderful friends in the USA has been able to rebuild Riversdale Irises. Importers, growers, sellers and hybridizers. Share the excitement as this year Tim will have his own introductions and is keen for you to see them flowering, not just as a photo. Experience beauty!

Morning and afternoon tea, lunch and dinner and all entry costs are included. A guest speaker you will not want to miss. Details will be revealed.

DAY 4 - Wangaratta Benalla Sunnymeade

Wangaratta, Benalla & Sunnymeade Garden Kithbrook

Not only will you be treated to iris overload, but you will experience some spectacular gardens. Sable Park is a beautiful garden set on 5 acres featuring roses, iris, perennials and so much to see.

Birchwood near Benalla is a lovely garden set on an acre with a profusion of flowering plants including iris. Julie Campbell and Gary work tirelessly adding and improving on the garden.

Benalla Botanical Gardens is a delight and a must see. We will be treated to a guided tour and then visit a private iris garden nearby.

Sunnymeade Garden where we realistically need a day to cover the garden. Craig Irvine, owner and garden designer has lovingly created a magnificent garden that he continues to add to. Craig will give a presentation and then we will be able to explore the areas of the garden that interest us.

This day will be a joy to the senses. Morning and afternoon tea, all entry fees, lunch and dinner is included.

DAY 5 - Numurkah Strathmerton Rutherglen

Strathmerton and Rutherglen

Julie Coller will greet us at her garden, Julie has been involved and a member of IRIS Inc for many years on and off. The final day of garden visits takes as on a trip down memory lane, passing through Yarrawonga where the Inland Region Iris Society commenced 30 years ago The first president and one of the founding members the late Joy Wilson lived in Yarrawonga, as did her keen helper the late Maurice Birthisel who did so much work behind scenes, newsletters, show cards, awards, certificates and the annual Iris society of Australia Year Book which went from a black and white publication to a professional glossy colour publication.

Tribute to all members past and present will take place at one of the convention dinners.

Handford’s Garden is a perfect example of what can be created with vision and hard work. A credit to the owners.

Cactus Country is a must see. It has an incredible collection of succulents and cactus

If you are part of the Melbourne group, you will head back to Melbourne with a visit to a garden on the way. If you are completing the day with us, we will head to Rutherglen to visit a winery and another member's garden which features many iris and roses and is an ideal location for our final afternoon tea.

This day includes Morning and afternoon tea, lunch and all entry fees but does not include dinner.
